At 24:00 yesterday, China ushered in the opening of the sixth price adjustment window for refined oil products in 2017: diesel was lowered by 220 yuan per ton, and gasoline was lowered by 230 yuan per ton, setting a maximum price reduction for oil prices this year. On a national average, No. 0 diesel will be reduced by 0.19 yuan per liter. Based on the 700-liter fuel tank, a full box will cost 133 yuan less than before March 28.

The price adjustment was the first "two consecutive falls" in 2017, setting the biggest drop in the year. After this round of price adjustment, the refined oil price adjustment in 2017 will show a pattern of “two ups, three downs, and one down”. The cumulative decline in diesel and gasoline is 255 yuan/ton and 265 yuan/ton respectively.

According to China's "Administrative Measures on Oil Price," domestic diesel and gasoline prices are adjusted every 10 working days according to changes in crude oil prices in the international market. The effective time of price adjustment is 24 hours on the day of price adjustment. When the price adjustment rate is lower than 50 yuan per ton, no adjustment will be made and it will be included or offset during the next price adjustment. Therefore, the change in the price of international oil prices is a benchmark for China's refined oil price adjustment.

Since March, international oil prices have fallen sharply from yesterday's deadlock. Since March, Brent crude oil futures prices have fallen by 11.2%, and New York crude oil futures prices have fallen by 8.6%. During the current round of refined oil price adjustments, New York crude oil prices did not return to above 50 US dollars per barrel, and Brent oil prices also fell below 51 US dollars per barrel.
