Han developed "Red Shark" anti-submarine weapon system
The Red Shark is a guided weapon system for shipborne vertical torpedoes that is used to attack long-range enemy submarines.
After the weapon system was first delivered in 2010, there was a lack of hit rate. The Korea National Defense Science Research Institute (ADD) completed its improvement in May this year. The South Korean Navy will have a world-leading position after the improved version of the Red Shark. Horizontal anti-submarine combat capability.
When attacking an enemy submarine, the "red shark" in the flight will open the parachute to reduce the impact force before it comes into contact with the water surface. After entering the water, it will be released from attacking the enemy.
"In general, the limit speed of the torpedo cannot exceed the speed of sound. The submarine judges the position of the opponent by sound, but because of the seawater resistance, the sound will reach the submarine first compared to the torpedo. The submarine can avoid the torpedo attack by hearing the sound at full speed.
In order to overcome this, the newly developed "Red Shark" launches the induced missile into the sea near the enemy submarine to weaken the sound of the torpedo, thereby increasing the difficulty of the enemy submarine.
The "Red Shark" consists of a vertical launch type induced bomb, a vertical launch system, and an emission control system. Its thrust direction manipulator is improved in terms of high temperature resistance, and the hit rate is higher than that of the US VLA. The hatch under the deck can be launched at any time and any place after opening. This greatly improves the survivability, space utilization efficiency and flexibility of the ship.
