According to the person in charge of the Xi’an Transportation Bureau, this year Xi’an was initially identified as a pilot city for the “transit city†of the country, and for this purpose Xi’an will be clear about the bus city’s construction goals this year. Within 3 years, 45 new bus lines were newly opened and adjusted, 2,000 new buses were added, and the total number of service vehicles reached 9,000 or more. The sharing rate of bus trips was increased to 45%, and 10,000 people owned buses to reach 17 standard stations. At the same time, planning and construction of a number of first-class passenger stations and passenger transport hub projects, do a good job of seamless connection of rail transit, conventional traffic, and taxis, to achieve direct transport and transit collection and distribution of mass passenger flow.
According to reports, the transportation department will continue to increase the number of public transport vehicles this year. Plans to purchase 750 new buses; plans to add 50 pure electric buses and open an electric bus service line. Xi’an City should also rationally optimize the existing bus network and site layout, expand the coverage of public transport in new urban areas, and gradually adjust the lines that repeat with the subway. Combining the construction of subways and the improvement of urban road network, the connection of major passenger flow distribution points will be realized, rapid and direct access to regional and passenger traffic stations will be achieved, and the distance and time for citizens to travel will be shortened.
