Turnbull Announces Telstra-NBN Copper Transaction

NBN will launch a fiber-to-node node with up to 200,000 locations in parts of Queensland and parts of New South Wales based on an AU$150 million deal with Telstra. The minister’s office was published in the announcement details of the two publications he wrote but did not respond to the request for comment. It is understood that the transaction will be announced to the media today.
According to industry publications, the deal was a renegotiation agreement between the AU$11 billion NBN companies. Telstra will see NBN gaining a "transition phase" between Telstra's copper and HFC network access to a wider range of protocols. The trial will include Belmont, Bolaro, Gorokan, Morriset, Hamilton, Warner and Umina, New South Wales, Caboolture, Bribie Island, Bundaberg, Kingpi and Queensland.
There are now fiber-to-node technologies in trials, due to delays in the trials with the results of Telstra's negotiations for wider trials, and the acquisition of power source fibers at Melbourne nodes. Now, Turnbull has said that the overall Telstra-NBN transaction will be completed in mid-2014, while the NBN cost-benefit analysis will be completed in June. It is understood that the report will not be released immediately until July.
